LUCKY shoppers won prizes when they bought their copy of the Western Gazette.

The newspaper's Everyone's a Winner campaign saw raffle tickets handed out to readers in Yeovil town centre.

Prizes such as lunch vouchers and a B&B stay were then won in a tombola.

One of the lucky winners was Jade Rowlands, of Milton Leaze, who won tickets for an adventure day out at Go Ape.

The promotion continues every Saturday in September at Middle Street.

This weekend readers will be in with a chance of winning a day trip to the Channel Islands with Condor Ferries.

And everyone taking part is guaranteed a prize of a two-for-one voucher at Subway.

Melanie Crisp, promotions executive for the Western Gazette, said: "This has been a really popular event, we've created a real buzz. We make sure that no one who buys a paper from our promotion staff goes away empty handed."

And other Western Gazette readers in Langport got lucky with their shopping trips and won wine and a hamper worth £50.

Customers at the Tesco Metro store were all in with a chance of winning the prizes with golden tickets in copies of the newspaper.

Lucky winners were announced over the tannoy and invited to collect their prizes from supermarket staff and Western Gazette promotional staff.

Marcus Blair, duty manager at the Langport Tesco store, said: "It was really well received, it caused a lot of excitement. A lot of people were coming in and then going off and telling other people.

"It definitely increased our sales and it went down really well with everybody."
