You can't afford to skip a regular service

Service intervals are so long these days and modern vehicles are so reliable. We turn the ignition key and they almost always start immediately, whatever the weather.

However, even today's vehicles require maintenance to keep them running efficiently. Ensuring that yours is serviced regularly by a professional technician is the best way to avoid all the hassle of a breakdown.

Fewer motorists service their own cars these days. Even for those who do know a thing or two often hard to find the time. What's more, the majority of engines are now screened from view being covered by plastic. Apart from access for oil and water top-up points, most are virtually sealed units and therefore prove almost impossible for the bloke equipped with a screw driver and a little bit of knowledge to access. Faults in modern vehicles have to be traced through the use of specialist diagnostic equipment operated by a highly-trained technician.

While we're all looking at reducing our costs these days it's a false economy to stint on your vehicle's maintenance. It could impact on your safety and that of other road users. Whether you choose to use the services of a main dealer or an independent garage it's vitally important to keep to your vehicle manufacturer's service schedules to ensure reliability now and into the future. It's always best to take the long-term view, calculating the lifetime cost of servicing and weighing that against the money you'll make back when you sell your car with full service history. Its financial madness not to get the car dealer serviced. It's not a case of can you afford to, more a case of can you afford not to.
