MARTIN Jessopp has described his MCE British Superbikes team as the "perfect package", believing he can set a new standard for BMW in the series.
The Yeovil racer last week announced he will be returning to the 1000cc championship just a year after leaving for a difficult campaign in World Supersport.
He will be the only ridersmotorcycles.com BMW competitor on the grid when racing starts at Brands Hatch in April, but said that suited him down to the ground.
Jessopp said: "It's exactly what I need. We have got our crew chief, Dave Allenby, from back in the Ducati days. He was our engine tuner and he's back full time for me.
"Greg Smith has been with me for many years and is also from Yeovil so it's the perfect package. It's small and with just the people I need, unlike at bigger teams with people that didn't really need to be in there. We are all there to do a job.
"We had a little ride out on a BMW a few years ago at the North West 200 and at a few tracks in Britain. As a standard package it's proven and in the BSB the boys on BMWs had some really good races.
"With the bikes we can build and have built in the past, our history speaks for itself. On paper there is a bit less to the BMW and I think we can do a bit better job than people have done before. We will definitely be up the top end with it."
Jessopp added his year racing a 600cc Honda on the global stage was not time wasted and said he had been delighted by the response to his move to BSB on the social networks.
"It's been a long time and I have known behind the scenes what's going, it's been working out the final last details," said the 27-year-old father of one.
"Now it's finally off my chest. I literally hadn't told anybody so it's nice to start talking to potential sponsors and people that will be hoping to help this year.
"It was a bit of a shock and disappointment to people when I left BSB a year ago but we are back and looking at Facebook and Twitter people are glad to have me back, welcoming me with open arms. I'm glad to be back.
"We went off and tried something different with a new adventure. It didn't quite work and there are not many people my age that have gone to ride a 600. I don't tend to do things the easy way and I went straight into the World Championship.
"It didn't really work but I am back on a Superbike, what I like riding and what I am better at riding. It's back to BSB with unfinished business. It will be nice to get back in there fighting for some podiums."
