YEOVIL Town have ruled themselves out of a move for out-of-contract Birmingham City midfielder and Bristol City target Wade Elliott.
The 35-year-old former Burnley man played in both of the Blues’ Sky Bet Championship clashes with the Glovers before spending most of the second half of the season on loan at Ashton Gate.
He will not be offered a new contract by the Midland giants, who beat relegation to League One on the last day of the season with a goal in the dying minutes, and has made public his desire to return to Bristol.
Speculation linking Wade to Huish Park emerged this week, but manager Gary Johnson was quick to dismiss the reports and warned he would not be commenting on potential new signings until later in the summer.
The Yeovil boss said: “No, we’re not interested. He played at Bristol City and I think if anybody was going to take him that would be Bristol City.
“Someone may have thrown us in to help whatever the situation is, I don’t know. I’m not going to discuss any rumours throughout the summer, which is what people should expect because the minute I say yes to a name it may alert other teams.
“Unfortunately, nobody will be getting a lot out of me until the early part of pre-season.”
