A DEVELOPER'S fight to build 55 homes next to Wincanton Community Hospital is back on track with a fresh application expected before Christmas.

The controversial plans by Hopkins Developments Ltd proved unpopular with hospital management and were refused approval by South Somerset District Council in June 2011, with a subsequent appeal thrown out by the planning inspector.

But a High Court judgment this summer quashed the appeal decision, paving the way for a new application.

A representative of Hopkins Developments Ltd, Matthew Kendrick, said it is hoped the new plans will be looked on "more favourably".
