A YOUTH project in Ansford and Castle Cary has been given the seal of approval at an awards ceremony.
Cary and Ansford Youth Matters received the Community Award and several local youngsters were recognised for their personal achievements at the Somerset Rural Youth Project (SRYP) awards.
SYRP provides a community youth worker currently working in Castle Cary and Ansford Academy as well as a at number of other groups around the county.
Commenting on the achievements of Cary and Ansford Youth Matters the judges said: "This group of volunteers has devoted a lot of time to young people. They are a rare bunch that invest in the future of young people, supporting individuals offering hands on support and they are a great example of community involvement."
Pupils at Ansford Academy also won several individual awards. Certificates were presented to Lewis Gaiger, Nick Philpot and Tom Owen while Dom Stone received the Sports Leader of the Year Award. Commenting on his award the judges said: "Dom used his previous knowledge of rock climbing to support others and demonstrate the skills to rock climb. He was not only enthusiastic but also encouraged others."
