OLDER people could soon enjoy getting fit as a village project near Martock has secured a cash boost.

The Kingsbury Episcopi amenities committee has received a grant from Somerset County Council to help purchase five pieces of outdoor exercise equipment for the village recreation ground.

The exercise machines allow more mature residents to take gentle exercise.

Derek Yeomans, county councillor for the area, presented Ros Williams, who is leading the £10,000 project, with a cheque for £1,500 from the council's health and wellbeing fund.
