What was the first care you ever owned?

Austin 1100

Do you have any special memories about it good or bad?

My parents cringed with embarrassment on the rare occasion it made it that far.

How many attempts did it take to pass your driving test and how old were you?

One, eighteen.

What is your first memory of going on holiday in the family car and where were you headed?

Seven years old in a yellow Ford Consul, with burn marks from the Cyprus sun on the seats, towing a revolting old caravan heading for the Mumbles in S Wales choking from parents' cigarettes (my turn to be embarrassed !)

What car are you driving now?

Ford Focus !! But at least it's not yellow !!

What was it about this car that attracted you?

Cost, and easy for my (short, Welsh !) wife to reverse.

Do you give names to your cars and if so what is your present one called?

Used to, Betsy and Hugo, too old to remember them now.

Do you have a favourite journey that you take or remember fondly about?

Motorcycling from West Coker to Valencia, Spain, through France and over the Pyrenees.

What CD do you have in your car right now or what radio station are you tuned to?

Theme tunes from the film "Once" and radio Breeze.

If expense was no problem what would be your dream car and why?

Aston Martin Vantage soft top. Pure quality without ostentation.

What journey would you like to make in your dream car and why?

The Champagne route through north east France, the chateaux of the Loire, across the Pyrenees followed by the Paradors of Spain. The Vantage would do justice to the venues.

Who would be your ideal travelling companion and why?

My wife of 32 years because despite being short and Welsh I couldn't imagine anyone else I'd rather be with.
